ABOUT OUR JOURNEY
When I founded Boxington in 2010 I wanted to create a sector-specialist M&A boutique that matched the standards of the mid-cap investment banks but which avoided their many conflicts of interest.
Now thirteen years on, we think we have achieved this, and we work hard to maintain it, both for ourselves as a business and for the clients who we loyally represent.
Over our journey, there have been some constant bedrocks of who we are as a firm. We have always been a sector specialist advisor, believing in the difference this makes to what we know and what we are able to deliver for our clients.
We have also always been a sell-side only advisor. We enjoy sitting only on the sell-side as it allows us the focus to be experts in the technical and project management aspects of the sell-side. It also ensures we avoid all conflicts of interest as we never cross the room to the opposing side of the M&A deal table.
At the same time, changes to the M&A market have meant that we have had to evolve, and we have enjoyed this evolution. We now work with tech-enabled and SaaS businesses, as well as our important legacy service-based clients. And we now help our client in the raising of growth capital, this being an important sell-side offering for us.
Research has over time become increasingly important to what we do too. From the very start, we were always believers in research, but the power and depth of what can be known and so achieved in M&A has increased exponentially. Nowadays, research is the engine at the heart of Boxington, powering what we know and do. Indeed we find it difficult to understand why so many of our competitors ignore the power of continuous sector M&A research, relying instead on conversations with colleagues in overseas offices and occasional market reviews for their inevitably limited sector insights.
So, as to the present and the coming years ahead as the advisory firm into which we have developed, we believe that we have a special market position and differentiation, and we continuously look to deploy this for our existing clients in every year of our relationship with them.
As for the small number of new clients with whom we engage for the first time each year, we look to work for leaders in our sectors who are open and straight-forward with us, who are positive whilst realistic in their objectives, and who place value on what we are able to do for them.
If you are interested in Boxington potentially supporting you, we would be happy to speak.
